Last Friday, I met one of the most interesting people I have met in a long time. His name is Harris Rosen and he’s one incredible man who both has a lot of money is who also happens to be RICH -you know the difference if you had read this blog before.  Harris worked for Disney in the 1960’s before buying one hotel on International Drive in Orlando. His story is a facinating one and one you can read all over the internet including on a USA Today blog. Last week, I was staying in one of his hotels (the Shingle Creek Rosen) and he came to my hotel room for about 45 minutes for an interview for my Living Rich book. I video taped the interview and when I get more time, I’ll post some of it here. He had some great sound bytes. He’s one of the biggest philanthropist in Orlando and has a message for the selfish mega wealthy like Donald Trump - stop being so selfish! I am quite sure he could teach The Apprentice creator a lesson or two - IF The Donald would listen. 

Read about his contributions to Tangelo Park an Orlando area neighborhood Rosen is helping to revitalize. I read with amazement how he paid for college for over 300 disadvantaged kids and commits to doing so for any Tangelo Park resident who graduates from high school.  He is generally thought of as one of the best business minds in the hotel industry and a guy who makes me proud to live in America.

It’s not too big to celebrate but I just happened to notice that today’s post was my 200th. I am sure I will think of some reason that that number is significant but I bet something will come to me. 

Oh, perhaps 200 is significant because I picked 200 ripe red strawberries today. As my friend Tia will attest, there is something incredible about gardening. Check out her gardening post and her wonderful writing.
